Title: Reboots when using Wireless N
Post by: NXLTrauma25 on April 21, 2010, 11:52:44 AM
I have looked everywhere...updated to every single firmware and even exchanged three different models and tested all three in other households and the wireless N worked flawlessly.

The problem I am having is that my router actually restarts every so often (sometimes alot and sometimes it is after a few days) when using Wireless N.

There are about 12 close networks in my neighborhood (Canton, Baltimore Maryland) and one of them is on Wireless N.  All of the networks are on Channel 1, 6, and 11while the other wireless N network is on a channel 7.

I have tried mine on channel 3 and every other channel hoping it was just some kind of interference.  Still, nothing has helped.

Any ideas at all?

Currently I am running it in Wireless G mode right now but I would love to have Wireless N.

Let me know if I need to post any settings or anything but I have changed every single setting I think multiple times and literally tried everything.

This seemed to also happen to me when I was still using my DIR-615.  Turned out one probable cause was my Norton 360.

I think I fixed it as far as what it was doing today on the wireless G but it still does it when running wireless N.  I know it isnt any software or any of my hardware because it works in other houses that I have tested with the same computers present

I have the only wireless N router in my neighborhood (at least from what I can see), so I don't think there are any conflicts.

I would try this:

1. Default router.
2. Disable ALL optional functionality (even Daylight Savings Time - one of my problems).
3. Enable only what is needed for 300 Mps (see sticky).
4. Verify your router time is set correctly (do not use servers - another problem of mine).
5. Save these settings (for the hell of it).
6. Power down router, power up. Correct the time again (lost on power down).

See what happens.

Mine has been set up like this for over a month now with no problems. I don't use the special functionality, so its no big deal for me.

Also, I have a laptop that runs both XP ans Vista64, and 2 desktops with XP.
I use Symantec Corp A/V.

Tried that as well and still it reboots.  I really think its my neighbors network but I dont understand how it could be with such a vast difference between the channels unless the other wireless G networks are blowing mine up as well but then why wouldn't that happen in wireless g only to.
