Title: Maximum unique IPs addresses in ACLS?
Post by: Yanta on April 23, 2010, 12:40:20 AM
Hi,

I have 13 unique IP addresses in 192.168.1 configured in ACLs

Whenever I try to add a 14th I get an error message saying that a new IP address cannot be added, only existing ones can be reused.

In this case, I am trying to add a rule for 192.168.1.15.
The message when I save the rule says 192.168.1.118 cannot be added (I believe 118 was the highest IP address assigned to a DHCP device).

I recently locked eveything down using DHCP reservation, the problem existed before that (exactly same symptoms).

Is there any way to resolve this?

Is there some limit on the numbe of unique addreses (13 seems a strange number to limit to).

I am using 1.30WW 2009/12/31. I was on 1.21 WW before that which exhibited the exact same symptoms.

thanks
Tanya

Well, to answer my own question - Dlink responded that they have limited the DIR-655 to a pathetic 15 unique addresses. That's reason enough for me to change brands. Most disappointing!

Even the cheapo D-Link Wireless-G routers do 200+ (231?), so what is this! Cannot be right...

This is what the dlink tech said to me..

"15 is the limit for Access Control as the Add Policy button will be greyed out. If you are not able to add 15, then your configuration has an entry which is not allowing it to be added."

I can actually only add 13, and the button isn't greyed out, but dlink are definately saying the DIR-655 will only allow 15 unique addresses in ACLs.

This is the limits on the DIR-655 platinum product, according to DLINK...

Wan Static route – 40
Vertical Server - 24
Port Forwarding - 24
ACL - 13
MAC filtering - 24
IP filtering - 24
URL Filtering - 40
Domain Blocking - 40

They originally told me 15 unique addresses, then said 13 ACLs. I'm still trying to clarify if 13 ACLs means 13 Unique IPs. I';m not having much luck getting straight answers out of them
