OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
NIC: Intel(R) 82566DC-2 Gigabit
DIR-655 Firmware: 1.32NA
The following devices are wired direct: our main PC and a work laptop. We also have two wireless devices, a personal laptop and a DAP-1522 for the PS3. Most of the time everything works the way it should but lately we've been having the following issue.
While browsing the internet, sites will begin loading slowly, sometimes not loading the graphics or the CSS styles. Then we start getting "Looking up..." when trying to visit URLs, "page not found" errors, and eventually the internet stops working altogether. Unable to access the DIR-655 admin page. The network icon in the taskbar shows the yellow warning symbol or connected but "no internet". The only way to restore service is to reboot both the router and the PC. (If I go upstairs to the wireless laptop when our PC starts having this problem, it also has connectivity issues.)
My work laptop, also wired, is in the DMZ and connects to the office through a VPN. This connection does not appear to be affected, only the devices being directly managed by the router.
I've disabled QoS and the Daylight Savings Time options, but at a loss as to what could cause these intermittent disconnects. It's at least every second day. My kingdom for a stable router!
Any ideas or suggestions appreciated...
EH
(I've just upgraded the firmware to 1.33NA -- hopefully this helps)

If the problem persists, try disabling SecureSpot and/or DNS Relay.

Same problem. Tried disabling those two, tried upgrading firmware. Same issue persists. 1.33 is still bad. 1.22 is better in that it lasts days and the symptoms aren't as severe, but still requires a reboot after a time.
Hardware A4.

I'm now having the exact same issues. I'll be using the internet (wireless) for an hour or two, it then becomes very slow, then can't access at all. I then notice the yellow exclamation mark in the taskbar and have to reconnect. My XBOX is wired and never has any issues. Our router is in the bedroom and I mainly use the laptop from our living room which is directly below, no more than 3 meters I imagine, so there shouldn't be any reason for the wireless signal to degrade. Though when I do bring the laptop into the bedroom, the signal is at full and works flawlessly. I've been tried all sorts of settings but nothing seems to keep it stable and I'm so close to throwing this through the window. :-[

When you cannot access the admin-page, is that valid for both wired and wireless access? Can you access the admin-page from the DMZ-machine when others fail?
1. When only wireless:
Have you checked (with, for example, INSSIDER) how much other traffic is happening on 'your' channel? Have you set auto-channel for connection? Would be better to choose a less busy channel and keep using that one as a permanent setup.
Could be that very nearby a 'new kid on the block' is using the same channel...
2. When both wired and wireless:
Reset router hard (after saving config) via the 30/30/30 method (not really needed, but does not harm either), and possibly downgrade...
