Trying to set up D-viewcam 2.0x to send emails (when motion detected by D-viewcam) to one of my email accounts. Attempting to use hotmail's SMTP server to do so. Here is the information I used in D-viewcam:
Server Name/IP: smtp.live.com
User Name: [my hotmail ID]@hotmail.com
Password: [my password]
Send From: [my hotmail ID]@hotmail.com
Message: Security Cam
Send To: [another of my email accounts]
A few seconds after clicking on the Test button, the following appears:
Failure sending mail
I made several attempts, each with the same or different servers (gmail, yahoo, hotpop, etc) ... with same result.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hotmail (gmail, and other email servers) DO offer SMTP access in addition to their HTTP access, and have done so for well over a year..
In addition, I tried the domain I "own", which definitely has smtp email (but on a port other than 25), with same result.
Here are some examples:

The SMTP server must be used on port 25, also SSL/TLS are not supported currently.

Thanks for the information!
Yes, the servers I tried either use a port other than 25, and/or require SSL.
Now experimenting with windows-hosted (localhost) SMTP applications (methinks the spammers use these things), and with FTP scheduling software. Hopefully will be able to transfer just JPGs taken during an event.
Is there any possibility future versions of viewcam will be able to employ SSL or alternate ports?
Thanks again.
