Title: When Do I Unplug The Wire?
Post by: qazplmfj on April 23, 2010, 09:16:17 PM
So I've successfully configured my DIR 655, and successfully installed my DWA 125 adaptor.  At what point do I unplug the ethernet wire from the router because when I do unplug it, theres no connection to the internet.  Thanks everyone,

Al

After you installed the drivers for the adapter, did you create a wireless connection to the router?

I guess that's where the problem is but the bigger problem I think is in the installation guide, just seems to congratulate you and then you're on your own....

So how do I set that up...?

Thanks

Not sure why you needed the wire for but you didnt give much detail.  if you had a wired connection and switched to wireless you could try to disable that old wired connection and maybe the internet will use the new wireless connection

Unless he is disconnecting the wire that goes to the modem.

Can't be that simple... No way!

The wired connection will likely take priority over the wireless session as well.

While you could update this using command line tools, the simplest way to convince your PC to change over to the wireless connection would be to reboot.
