Hi there

Could you tell us the make, model and capacity of your hard disk(s), whether or not it has been previously partitioned or formatted and what firmware version your DNS-323 is running? This details will help us suggest possible solutions.

As a starter, you may want to try ensuring the drive(s) are OK by connecting them to a PC and running Seatools or similar to check them. You may also want to run Gparted or similar to remove any existing partitions on the drive(s) before inserting them in to the DNS-323.

Thanks.

The error means that the device is having problems creating the hidden partition SDA4. Perhaps the disk is having problems or you need to wipe off any previous partitions.

Have you tried checking the drive with Seatools or similar to verify the hard drive is functioning correctly?

Well, I'd check it with the WD drive diagnostic, I doubt SeaTools is going to deal with it. :D

Seatools will check any drives but certain Seagate specific features will be disabled.

And the WD diagnostics will do the job completely. ;)

Yep. Use the manufactures diagnostics if they are available. The point is, check the drives with a drive checking utility.

Any one know if WD1002FAEX works and in Raid 1 in the NAS device?
