Post by: madster on May 01, 2010, 07:02:18 AM
Hi there, I am facing an error on running XP "local device name is already in use. While no problem to connect it to another laptop running Win 7.0

I can do ftp, iTune etc using XP laptop but can't map it everytime even I use different drive name, delete all connection and reconnect etc methods.

Any one can advise?

Could you give some more details on how you are mapping to the DNS-323? Through Windows, command line, utility etc.

As this sounds like a Windows issue rather than a DNS-323 issue you might want to google "local device name is already in use" and read the Microsoft KB articles and forum postings...

Generally I open the file explorer and map drive, select a drive name like say Z, folder"\\192.168.X.XXX\\Folder name.

Click on reconnect logon with the password...and click finish.

Have a read of the MS KB articles and see if they help.
