What does teh NoIP/DDNS addon package do that the NAS didn't do already in the Tools->DDNS menu? I added and started this package, but I cannot see the difference in the configuration page.
Thanks,
Bill...

It simply adds support for the no-ip ddns service instead of just our Dlinkddns service.

Thanks!
I couldn't find a description of the packages they have, so I've had to guess.

www.no-ip.com (http://www.no-ip.com) would have clarified it. ;)

One question about this noip package. If I install it on the DNS-323, that means I don't need to install the client on my PC and/or Mac, correct? No-ip.com talks about just needing "one machine on your home network" to have their client installed to notify the system of the changing IP address. So, I assume the one installed on the DNS will play that role, correct?
Thanks!

Correct, if you have the update client running on your NAS, you don't need it on your machine. I have accounts at DynDNS and NO-IP, I run them on two different NAS units for redirection.

Thanks for the clarification!

Can you elaborate on the last sentence?

I have accounts at NO-IP and DynDNS. I run DynDNS updater on the DNS-323, and the NO-IP updater on my Synology DS209 NAS. They provide me with two different static URL's that redirect to my public IP address. Each dynamic DNS service has some small differences in their capability, so I just decided to have my choice. :D
