Title: Windows 7 sharing to DSM-510 playback problem.
Post by: Willeo on May 11, 2010, 10:21:03 AM
I installed Windows 7 and setup Media Center to record tv shows.  I try to play a newly recorded show and it is not listed on the DSM-510.  I can play it back on my computer through Media Center.  When I try to play a show that was recorded when I was using Vista I can not fast forward the show anymore.  I shared media files in the networking section of Windows 7 but I must have messed something.  Do I need to do something in Windows Media Player?  Any suggestions on these two problems?  Thanks.

UPDATE: I configured Windows Media Player and I can now see the newly recorded show but I still can not fast forward the old or new shows.  Any thoughts on this?

What is the file type?

The new recording extension from Windows 7  is "*.wtv" and the old format extension from vista is "*.dvr-ms".  The normal buttons work in the menu selections of the DSM-510 but when I start playing a program I can't use the FF, RW, or the Play/Pause button.  It displays "Invalid Operation".  The Repeat, Stop, and Back buttons work.  The *.dvr-ms worked fine under Vista but not Windows 7.  I'm thinking it's a sharing issue or Media Player issue but I can't figure it out.  Thanks

WTV is not a supported file type on the DSM-510 and what media server are you streaming the DVR-ms videos from?
