Title: DNS Problems
Post by: BSouders80 on May 11, 2010, 10:23:02 AM
This is an odd problem I'm having...........

I have a QTSC201 surveilance camera running on my wireless network.  I have port 443 opened up and can access the video/audio feed from anywhere.  I got all of that working and was pleased.   Now I thought I would go a step further and setup the motion sensor to kick out an e-mail when someone tripped the sensor.

I set this up yesterday using a send from gmail account to my hotmail account.  It worked great, for about 4 hrs.  Then I don't know what happened.  I called Q-See's tech support this morning and he thinks that it may be in the DNS settings in my DIR-655 router.  That boggles my mind b/c it worked for 4 hrs!  A friend pulled in my driveway, it caught it, snapped pictures and sent them to me.  Awesome.  Now it will not work.

Sooo....  I am trying to attach a picture of my mail config settings in my Camera.  This worked yesterday.  Any ideas on what to try.  I'm not using a static ip.  Obtain IP automatically, but it is always 192.168.1.198.

I'm open to all suggestions.  I had a hell of a time figuring out how to open the ports, but I did get that one done.

Brian

I guess I can't add a picture.

I click on "Test your account settings" and I get.... "Can't get the ip from the mail server domain name.  Maybe the DNS or the domain name is wrong."

Any help would be appreciated.  Diagnostic tools?

Thanks again.
