So, using same security and wifi-settings? Does the iPad 'see' the network? WPA2-implementation-differences could be the culprit (SSID) if it is visible, but secure connection fails...

I realized on the iPhone that it has problems with hidden SSIDs. Try to make the network visible if it is hidden.

If it is visible you might be hit by the general WIFI instability of the iPad. I read that Apple is working on a WIFI fix right now which will be released soon.

Have you tried WEP, or no security to see if connections can be made?

I have my iPad connected through my DIR-825 router.  In fact, I've connected to the router on both 2.4 and 5 Ghz.

I have Security Mode set to WPA2 Only and Cipher Type to AES & TKIP.

It works great.  I've been using it on the 5 Ghz band, because it seems to be a bit better signal and speed on that band.

I also have my DIR-825 connected to a cable modem, from Comcast.

The problem is with the MAC address filter. DIR-825 works okay with MAC addresses that start with 00:
My iPad's MAC address starts with D8: so we have an issue.
Without MAC filter, iPad works fine. But if you try to save iPad's MAC to the filter, you will get an "invalid MAC address" error. BTW, I am using 801g with firmware 2.02NA.
If I don't get a firmware update soon, my DIR-825 is going back to Costco.

so why not use WPA2 encryption and forget the MAC address filter?  That's what I'm doing with my iPad and I connect to my DIR 825 on both 2.4 Ghz and the 5 Ghz band.  It works great. I have a 25 mb/second interenet connection and streaming Netflix and other video on the iPad is a realy treat, it works wonderful.

I have dir -825 connected to cable modem. I am unable to connect via wifi  with ipad. my two laptop are able to connect  without any trouble.

I found the solution for this issue. iPad only accept TKIP security, so i change WPA2 to WPA security, and it solve!
