Title: Speed lock?
Post by: komputerkurt on May 12, 2010, 06:10:44 PM
I recently noticed that my wired computer gets 650kbps download when my other computer that is wireless and connected to my router only get 128kbps. Is this my router or wifi card's fault, or maybe the fact that the computer is old (10yrs)? My wifi card is a RaLink card, and it reads 80% signal strength. Would the router be limiting the output? My internet is slow as it is but when I used this computer everything is fast and a download takes 5 mins compared to 20. Can someone help me with this or should I be asking my ISP? I ask here first because it likely isn't my ISP. Maybe because my plan only includes 1 IP adress?
Please help!

Ok so I changed the settings on the router to Wireless G with Speed Boost, and I'm not sure, but maybe it was the download sites that were giving me bad speed since I almost always download from megaupload or mediafire.

Anyways, problem solved!
