Title: Dir 825 wireless worked fine for months
Post by: David Prince on May 17, 2010, 05:29:12 AM
firmware version B, no updates available.

as of Friday neither of my laptops will connect to my wireless network. I have 2 names assigned to the two bands on the router.

I can see the network I want to connect to but when I try it constantly says "acquiring network address" and never connects.

changed the channel in the router settings but nothing...any help is appreciated

You haven't told us which FW version your using? Reliance on [Tools]->[Firmware]->[Check Now] to provide an accurate report as to availability of a more current firmware is fool hardy.

If the upper right corner of your browser window doesn't read
Hardware Version: B1      Firmware Version: 2.03NA
You are not using the latest greatest, more stable, better functioning firmware

Have you hade a power-outage or -glitch? D-Link routers are a little finicky on power-dips. Just reset the router (easiest is to remove power for a minute or so, or press the reset button with a bent paperclip [no, not 'that' kind of bent]...

It looks like the DHCP is not able to hand out IP-addresses. You changed nothing on the router before this started to happen?

With 2.02NA I had this issue on the 5ghz band when wireless connection inexplicably dropped it took a power off reset to restore connection.

2.03NA resolved this
