Hi, I have been trying to update to the latest firmware, currently my dir-628 hardware version A2 has firmware version 1.13. I don't have any problems yet with what I have, but try to keep my stuff up to date. It goes through the update process and the 80 second countdown, but then when it restarts it shows version 1.13.
How come some people with 1.2x are trying to downgrade to 1.13?

People have complained that once the firmware is past 1.2xx, you can never go back to any 1.1xx firmwares officially.
If you still want to update, it must be done via the Ethernet connections and not the wireless network.

This desktop computer is wired to the router, but the firmware upgrade does not take effect. Any other ideas?

I was having precisely the same issue. During the fifth unsuccessful attempt I FINALLY noticed that one of the dialog boxes was asking me to confirm that I really wanted to upload the file "C:\fakepath\DIR628A2_FW124NAB01.bin". What? fakepath? I made a new folder called fakepath in the root directory, copied the .bin there, and tried again - everything worked like a charm! It does, however, revert the router back to all of its default settings, so either export those first or be prepared to redo all of your settings.
Must've been a bug in the 1.13 firmware...

Since you mentioned that, I noted that as well, so I tried what you said, but that still didn't work. After I did a "reset to default settings", then the firmware upgrade worked, finally... thank goodness!

The same thing happened when I was first updating the firmware, I think it was from 1.13 to 1.23??. Everything seemed good except when I browsed to the router page it still said 1.13. Then yesterday or the day before I tried once again, this time downloading ver 1.24na and what do you know, it worked and now the router pages says 1.24na.
I did also note that when I had 1.13 and hit the check for update versions nothing came up, even though there were alot of update versions out there.
