Title: SecureSpot
Post by: maf0229 on May 25, 2010, 07:26:53 AM
Just bought the DIR-655 and have been waiting since Friday for access to Securespot-
After various support calls they tell me today no new securespot signups until they get securespot working correctly.  Not sure what isn't working but I'm returning the router, securespot was the main reason I bought it. >:(

I find this news amusing, especially considering that I've been campaigning to have SecureSpot removed.

Sounds like D-Link's firmware strategy has managed to alienate both the people who want SecureSpot AND the people who don't! :o

If you are having problems with securespot after signing up for a trial period, (as in it blocks all internet access until you go in and reset the settings) please send an email to vvtestboy@yahoo.com  I think a class action lawsuit is the way to solve this and retrain DLink, and as soon as we get enough complaintants I'll forward the info to a lawyer and get the ball rolling.

thanks

I just threw my 625 router in the trash and replaced it with a Netgear... way to go D-link! What a piece of s*** this thing was. Worked well except for Securespot... d-link really screwed the pooch adding that particular "value" to their product and then telling their customers to bend over for more. I won't buy dlink again.
f***'em

Securespot is the worst possible "feature". Every day or two I lose access to the internet because of "access control", so I have to log in to my router, go to advanced tab, then to the securespot, then turn on the feature and click save, then turn off the feature and click save again. What sort of craziness is this? Now my wife is insisting I go out and buy a different brand of router. Ouch, my wallet is hurting.

Just get another brand, you have the power to solve it yourself. Personally, I detest the 'American way' of going to court about every tiny issueor problem  in a world that just isn't an will never be perfect.

I wish you people were dedicated to preventing and solving famine as you are to suing eachother.
