Hi, I have recently received a DIR 655 from my work, as they had ordered too many for their offices. So I am planning on using it in my home now, switching from a (ancient)linksys. However all I have received is the router and a power cord.
When I plug it in, I get the power light, but when I plug in my internet source, no other lights come on.
When it is plugged into power and my internet source, I cannot access the router page wirelessly nor can I access the router page when plugged into it via ethernet.(192.168.0.1 right?)
Can someone point me in the right direction with regards to setting up this router?

Reset it to factory defaults with the reset button and try again. You will need a paper clip or something similar. Keep the button pressed for at least 10 seconds with the router power up. You can download the manual and quick setup guide from the D-Link site. http://www.dlink.ca/products/?pid=DIR-655&tab=3 (http://www.dlink.ca/products/?pid=DIR-655&tab=3) If you still can't connect after that open a command window and run ipconfig /all. That will tell you if you are getting an IP address from the router. What is listed for default gateway is the ip address you use to log into the router. By default it should be as you stated 192.168.0.1.

Sorry if I'm just not seeing it but where on that page is the quick setup guide?
and thanks for your help.

Ops, I guess there isn't one for the 655. They have them for the wireless cards but not the router. Your modem goes into the WAN jack and your wired PCs connect to the LAN jacks.

Is there a problem if I have no computers wired in my house? Can I just use an ethernet to set it up via the page?

I'm not sure what you mean? Ethernet is wired! WIFI is wireless. You can use wired or wireless to setup the router, just don't flash its firmware over a wireless connection.

This is the setup program that comes with the CD that is included with a new router:
ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Apps/RouterSetup_dir655_410.exe
You will have to copy and paste the link- the coding on here is messed up.

I vote for full manual set up.
I would suggest holding in the reset button on the router for more like 30 seconds solid...
