Does the SMTP client on the the DIR-655 actaully work?
Ive tried emailing the router logs numerous times, using smtp.gmail.com as the smtp server,
port 465; the right username and password.
I've rebooted the router after each change.
I even created a new gmail account to test this.
I get the same message after every attempt.
The firmware is the latest version too.
Any help would be appreciated.

SMTP Server Address: smtp.gmail.com ( make sure that is the right way)
SMTP Server Port: 465
Enable Authentication : "click"
Account Name: Username: yours@gmail.com or other from gmail
Password: " As the is "
Verify Passwor: " As the is "
Then look at your setting in Gmail, Ex POP or IMAP settings

I use the SMTP to send router logs when full. It works fine.
I don't use the authentication for mine. I just have the Enable EMail box checked....
The a FROM a TO a SMTP Server and port 25 (in my case)....
Send when log full is checked.
Save and reboot router

I've been having the same problem! I saw this work LONG ago on v1.21 or something but ever since (1.34NA now) and all versions in between it never works. I have the "schedule" box checked.
My email server works great. always has.
