Title: NAT on Strict
Post by: ayxc on May 28, 2010, 05:12:52 AM
Ok so I bought this new game Red Dead Redemption for Xbox360. I frequently get kicked out or cannot join multiplayer free-roam games due to connectivity issues with other players and it is because my NAT is strict. This game is way more sensitive about the NAT than modern warfare 2 was. I am using DIR-655 router, just upgraded to 1.34NA firmware in attempt to solve problem. Didn't seem to help. I've researched numerous solutions and still can't get the NAT to open. I assigned a static ip for the xbox. When I connect using automatic settings it acts like NAT is fine but when I go in the game I discover that it is really on strict.

I followed this: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DIR-655/Xbox_Live_360.htm (http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DIR-655/Xbox_Live_360.htm) and forwarded the ports as it said. I also ensured that UPnP was enabled. I set my UDP Endpoint Filtering and TCP Endpoint Filtering to "Endpoint Independent" and also put the ip that my Xbox was set to into the DMZ Host and that didn't work either. I also tried disabling SPI and that didn't seem to make a difference. I am very stuck right now and have googled the hell out of the issue to no avail. I am really bummed that the port forwarding didn't fix the issue. Help?  :( :(

Hi,

Did you reserve a LAN IP for the Xbox ?  Did you set that IP in the XBox network settings or is the XBOX set for automatic ?

Does the DNS show ont he XBox screen match what you are showing in the router setups ?

I use DNS relay on my router, so the XBoxx shouls show the IP of the DIR for the DNS, in my case thats 192.168.1.1
