Hi,
it's me... again :D
I'm trying to setup samba shares to be able to access them from Windows stations (both Windows XP and Windows 7).
Some files have special characters in them (יאפ, etc).
I can access them without any problem from windows 7, but from Windows XP it does not work...
Any idea ?
Thanks

Got the latest XP service pack and patches?

Yes.
The files are copied on the share through a Windows Sync (offline folders) from the Windows XP station.
After that, some files can't be opened from the XP workstation, but are ok from Windows 7.
I must say that the XP workstation was syncing perfectly with my Linux server before that using samba too...

Just for people who will comme here : the problem was a name resolution problem.
From windows XP, the mount was using the Name of the dns-323 (only resolved by DNS not Netbios Resolution). From Windows 7, I was using the IP address (I'm making test with this computer, that's why I prefered to use the IP).
I've changed the mounting on windows XP so it uses the IP and now it's ok.

What does using the IP of your NAS have to do with your original question which seemed to be not being able to access these files with special characters in?? I'd have never realised your issue from that question.

That's not the IP which was the issue but the Name Resolution.
Not Netbios Name Resolution results in strange behaviour on the Windows XP Workstation like not be able to open files with special chars.
I know the problem seems unrelated... but it was...
Windows magic !

You're right, it seems unrelated :) in my world you can either access the NAS by name and access your files, or not.
