Title: WHS UPnP Port settings
Post by: lwsandl on June 04, 2010, 04:11:25 AM
Trying to use brand new DIR-685 with HP EX495 WHS. Remote Access on WHS always comes back with error "not available". This was working perfectly with DIR-825 A1 FW 1.01. I have hit the reset button on the router when powered on and off. I can get it working through the port forwarding, but it is still not recognized by the WHS. This could work, but I have other devices on the LAN that need UPnP. Any suggestions?

First have set upnp on the router. As I have a WHS and it opens the three ports which are 80,443,4125. The only time I had was when server updated after I shut it down and restarted it all was fine. Mind you this is a home build unit with the WHS installed on it.

I had tried turning the upnp on the router off and on again and rebooting the whs, but to no avail. I can see in the router that it is opening the ports, but the whs unit website appears only on the lan, not on the wan address.

I presume you are trying to connect from an external source as the router well not allow loop back. Also on local access have you looked at the settings page on the whs to see why it cannot get out. As you said it worked on your old router can I ask if you was using your own address or a director as I have eg http://aname.homeserver.com.
