Title: Network Settings Help on DIR655
Post by: Okoidogo on June 05, 2010, 10:18:26 AM
I have a few questions on the network settings for DIR655.
(a) DHCP  - is it a good idea to reserve IP addresses for my main units - printer, desktop, laptop. Any security advantage to this?

(b) DHCP - turn broadcasting ON/OFF - what is the advantage ?  I understand the SSID broadcast but not the DHCP Broadcast.

(c) Enabling the HTTPS server - ON/OFF - any security advantage?
(d) User Account - I don't see any use, but don't want to leave the password open either. Can this account be turned off ?
Thanks for your help.

A. Excellent use for Printers, others up to you.  No security advantages, more for ease of managing the network.

B. Mine is unchecked, have never had any issues.

C. My Https is off, Remote Management is also off

D. I left the user account alone as it has no power to change anything
