Title: DNS 321 keeps crashing after about 10 minutes.
Post by: LSDave on June 06, 2010, 12:37:05 PM
Im getting really frustrated with this thing. It was working fine for a few months. I've had this issue in the past. But today i had a power outage and now the NAS locks up after about 10-15 minutes of use. Power light is on but inaccessible from any means. All thats showing on the unit is the network activity light flashing a few times quick, then a pause, then flashes quick then a pause, and this happens at a steady rate.  The power button does nothing, and i have to unplug the unit to reset it.

 ???

Im running firmware version 1.03 and the unit is hardware ver A2

i have a seagate ST31500341AS and a WD7500AAKS-00RB

I've also tried leaving every computer off on the network except one and it still happens even if i switch which computer i leave on.

Please help, i feel like i want to throw this thing through the window.

First step, reset to factory defaults and manually reconfigure it for your environment.  This will not affect your data.

Im going to give that a try.  Also Dlinks tech support said if that didnt work to try installing 1.08 firmware for the DNS 323. Does that sound right? is firmware cross compatible?

I've never had an issue upgrading firmware with the data, but that's not to say it won't happen. :)

Since it was working, I'm having a hard time believing that upgrading the firmware is suddenly going to fix it, but who knows.  I'd try the factory reset first.
