Title: Upload speed dropping
Post by: titan3025 on June 06, 2010, 08:11:22 PM
Hi all,

I realized in the OSX activity monitor that the upload speed is varying a lot when transmitting large files from my macbook to my pc via samba.

We already talked a lot on this forum about the slow wifi speed so I won't go into transmission speed above 3mb/s :) I am on 5ghz wifi.

But what I saw is that the upload won't stay at 3mb/s constantly. It will stay there for a second and then drop to 200kb/s for a second just to go up again.

Do you guys know which option in the router can cause this interrupted upload behavior.

Cheers

Could be related to computers used, not router. PC I/O buffering is a b*tch...
PC and Samba also have some performance-issues, related to large files (i.e. buffer-flushing), so see if you have similar issues when connected via LAN...

Damn.. you know what did the trick? Powercycle the Router. It was not Sambas fault.

I wish this firmware did not have all these surprises :(
