Title: DECT 6.0 Phone is horrible - Is it my WiFi?
Post by: Randu on June 09, 2010, 08:27:25 AM
Hi
I have a (actually 2) Uniden 4096 2-Line DECT 6.0 phones.
Corded base with a cordless satellite.  Using Vonage VOIP.
I believe DECT is 1.9GHz..

I get a TON of interference/clipping on the cordless, pick up the corded base unit handset and it's fine.

Is it my wireless 655?  Is there a setting I can change that will give me more signal separation?

The only other wireless item that I can think of in the environment is my wireless keyboard & mouse..
I have no idea what frequency those are on.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Try another frequency (channel) on the router, see if impact changes...

Thanks
That seems like a likely move...

Sorry for being uninformed on this, but how do I get to there??

New or old Uniden phone?  It's not very likely that a DECT phone will interfere with WiFi; they are on different frequencies as you have observed.  Before buying a cordless phone myself, I looked into that.

I have a Skype DECT 6.0 phone and my DIR-655 on the same table; no problems.  It's worth a shot to try a different channel and/or shutting off WiFi, because sometimes the things that should not interfere, interfere anyway.  :)

The WiFi settings are on your Router's home page, under the Setup, Wireless Setup, Manual Wireless Network Setup.
