Title: Two identical adapters, one connects at 54Mb, one at 1Mb!
Post by: david_uk on June 11, 2010, 10:54:05 PM
I'd be grateful for any help here. The cable modem and router had some problems earlier in the week, and I rebooted them and re-loaded the router configuration file. Wired connections are fine, as is my laptop and my daughters connection. My son's however runs at 1Mb according to the router and a speed check on his computer. I've tried removing the adapter from control panel and reloading the driver, but it still connects at that speed.

The router is set at g/n wpa2 personal with Tkip encription. The adapters are identical Belkin usb ones. We currently have wireless G adapters only. I'm going to upgrade the adapters to wireless N, as my son's new laptop hs that spec and then all wireless pc's can connect as N.

I don't THINK he's done anything weird to his computer that's causing this, as it all started when the router crashed and had to be rebooted. Is there anything on the router that might be causing this problem?

Are you running on the latest firmware version for your hardware revision?

What is your revision - otherwise known (and written on the box) as "H/W Ver." And what is your "S/W Ver." or firmware version? It should say in the upper right corner of the web interface.

Hi. Hardware is B2, and firmware is 2.25.

You could try the latest 2.27 firmware for B2 from here:  ftp://ftp.dlink.cz/dir/dir-615/driver_software/DIR-615_fw_revB_2-27B01_eu_en_20100115.zip
