Title: Time to Ring
Post by: kruglerd on June 14, 2010, 10:02:24 AM
Boss was asking about why it was taking upwards of 10 seconds to make a phone call with the system.  So ran some tests on the dlink and a bypass line for our fax we have setup.

DLink - 11 Sec w/out area code (95551212)
           8 Sec w/ area code (98125551212)

Direct - 4 Sec w/out area code (95551212)
         - 1 Sec w/ area code (98125551212)

Now I was able to shave a second by setting the PPS to 20 rather than the default of 10 in the gateway (I guess in my mind, don't know if the time between tones and pulses is using this setting, but it was consistantly 12/9 prior to the change).  Is there something else I can do in the phones or gateway to make this faster?

We are using the Cable Co. (Comcast) Voice Box for the three lines we have if that is any help.

Pressing the # sign after dialing the phone number will reduce the time drastically to a round 4 seconds. This feature can be enabled on each individual phone. The other thing you may have to do is log into each phone and click on Phone> Phone Settings. Reduce the time under Interdigit timer from 4 to either 3 or 2.
