Post by: atrieden on June 15, 2010, 05:58:19 AM
Hi guys,

hope you can shed some light in my problem, while running dsl speed test from speedtest.net, i noticed that my internet connection speed is halved as compared to directly connecting to the dsl modem.

anybody have encounter that? how should i configure my router? is the router limiting the bandwidth?? should i adjust the mtu? i have tried to disable qos as well. thanks.

Hi dear,

I have exactly the same problem. My broadband line has been upgrade from 8Mbps to 30Mbps recently. When I test the speed test at Internet, the throughput as measure at DIR-655 router Ethernet port is 27Mbps. But when my PC is connected via the wireless link, the throughput drops to 9Mbps. The radio is working fine and is showing 270Mbps at the wireless icon (at right hand corner of Windows tray bar).

My router was bought two year ago and the firmware was upgrade in late last year.

My problem has been fixed after calling tech support of DLink in HK. Basically I need to change the "Cipher Type" of WPA to "AES". Now my Internet speed through wifi is about 26Mbps, much better than 9Mbps before.
