Title: cannot reload D655 software on computer after a sysytem install to factory sp.
Post by: davod on June 15, 2010, 01:32:25 PM
i had to revert back to factory specs for my 3-4 year old Sony Vaio notebook computer. The 655 came along much later.

The wireless connection status is limited or no connectivity, and when I tried repair in the Wireless Network Connection status screen the result was - the network did not assign a network address to the computer.

I tried loading the software via the CD which accompanied the 655 but I get kicked out with a message that this will not work because a wireless link was detected.

I am sending this from a different computer.

Not sure what's running on your laptop, but I know that Windows XP has issues connecting to WPA2 WiFi signals prior to Service Pack 3.

So if you're running WinXP prior to SP3 and you have WPA2 enabled, you'll have those exact symptoms described.

Either update your OS or downgrade your encryption.

Mircosoft has a hotfix if you have SP2 and don't want to upgrade:
