Title: Amber lights but can still access drives and 'Status seems ok"
Post by: bomberdude on June 17, 2010, 06:24:03 AM
HI All.

Ive had my unit for two years and never had any issues. I use 2 x WD 500GB Drives in Raid 1

Firmware 1.06 REV A

Last night I logged into the control panel and ran the manual refresh option in the UPnP. This refresh didn't seem to complete. I ran it from a remote PC. When I physically visited the NAS both drive indicator lights were yellow.

Now I can still access the files and folders. And the 'Status" page looks normal. That is, there are no reports of degradation.

This morning I backed up all my data and upgraded my firmware to 1.08. The result is the same issue (Yellow lights) and same symptoms (can access files and Status looks OK)

Log file does however have this entry:

2010/06/17 15:48:39 HDD1 Hard Drive Has Removed.
2010/06/17 15:48:43 HDD2 Hard Drive Has Removed.

Even then it still seems to work. System reboots don't fix the issue. I have logged a support call but DLINK are yet to call me back.

So my issue is that it appears something is wrong but I cant work out what is wrong given that I can still access the drive or drives.

Would greatly appreciate any suggestions or comment.

Thanks BD

Try resetting the NAS to factory defaults and reconfiguring.  This won't affect the data on the drives.

I just restored the factory settings and reconfigured as directed and that seems to have worked.

Thanks gunrunnerjohn

Very Much appreciated.

Nice that it was an easy fix. :)
