Title: How to test hard disk LEDs
Post by: Nightingale77 on June 20, 2010, 02:53:55 PM
Hello,

I am new here.

I have a DNS 323 working for years now - last week I had a HD-failure of one of my Seagate 1.5TB hard disks working in Raid 1. Thinking nearly 2 years are long enough for a secure working harddisk I bought 2 new ones - now from Samsung. Putting one in the right slot (I was lucks that the right slot run bad), the DNS copied data onto the right one - that is what I asked for.

At that time I found out that the right blue LED is not working when accessing the hard disk (Orange one is).

Does anybody know if the light can be tested? Is it possible that just the blue component of the multi-colour LED fails? Any other reasons that might have caused this problem?

Thanks

What does the status say about the health of the hard disks?

I think I'd test that new drive with the Samsung diagnostics externally, just to make sure it's not causing the issue.
