Title: Cant see access point - 1 laptop
Post by: namtrak68 on June 25, 2010, 03:00:33 PM
Gidday guys,

This one has me stumped.  We have numerous wifi bits and pieces (PC - Windows 7, laptops - ubuntu and XP, Tivo, WII, Iphones etc etc).  All have been connected effortlessly.  However all of sudden the laptop with XP on it (Lenovo) can no longer see the access point.  It can see other access points in the region (I haven't tried connecting as they are secure ;))

I have no idea where to start?

Anyone?

I am completely stumped on this.  The laptop can see other AP's but not this one - it cant even telnet into it.  But the other devices all see the AP fine.

There's been no changes to either the 615 or the laptop.

Cheers

Have you tried anything to attempt to fix the problem?

I guess the issue is I dont even know where to start.  I have rebooted the 615, but because the other laptops and pcs can see it okay, I dont want to muck around with it too much.

I have tried both the proprietry wireless connection software and windows wireless on the laptop in question and both have the same issue.

Well, the problem is that you dont know if it's the computer that has a problem with that specific network, or if it's the router that has a problem with that specific computer.

You could start with the basics:

Download latest wireless driver from  Lenovo http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?doctypeind=9&template=/productselection/landingpages/downloadsDriversLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?doctypeind=9&template=/productselection/landingpages/downloadsDriversLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo)
After installing latest driver reboot
