Title: Web URL filtering not working
Post by: xestcnx on June 28, 2010, 02:25:12 AM
Hi i'm having trouble with URL filtering. I follow all instructions from the user guide but it still doesn't work.

First i set up an http ALG to allow certain websites via URL filtering,
then a set up a service pointing to this ALG,
and last i set up an IP rule that uses this service.
Everything else is untouched.

I'm sure i'm doing something wrong but i don't see it.

I include some captures of rules and log.

Thank you

Hi again, now it seems to be working, i removed all those /*/*/*/* because they were test i did before
and blacklisted *.*.*/* just as the user guide said.

i tried that before without success and now is working.... don't know why

I think the rule has to be a NAT rule not a Allow rule.

I think only one "*" its necessary at the beginning or ending in the white list, blacklist criteria

ok here is what you do

login > alg>setup up your filtering
goto services > select http outbound  and make sure that ALG YOU setup is selected
then goto IP RULES > add new IP rule and

         Name:   urlfilter

   Action:   NAT

   Service:   HTTP

   Schedule N/A

                                      Interface          Network
Source:                          lan                      all nets

Destination:                      wan                    all nets

save and activate!  ;)

Use HTTP service with HTTP ALG used
By default it's http-outbound
