Why is it that everytime I either shutdown or restart the NAS drive I can never access it again unless I go into the configuration and remove myself from the network access list and add again as it's telling me the network path was not found? but I can ping it's IP address ok.
-
I've never seen anything like this, but I'd have to believe it's some network settings on your machine or perhaps a firewall?
-
Did you assign a static address or is it getting a new DHCP address each time?

Hi, you didnt say what os youre using, if your using win 7 join the club. I have a network of mainly xp pooters and my main machine being win7. The network works flawlessly, unless I turn off the NAS. When I do I have to enter configuration, change nothing, exit and all works ok. I tried to get an answer to this a month or so back and I got the distinct impression I had a hide to complain. Like the response you got all I got was the problem is my network. By the way mine has a static IP and still doesnt boot without reconfiguration. Network magic can see it without reconfig, and access it??? Oh one other thing, my DNS-323 NAS will not run a USB printer, but a $40.00 tplink print and storage server works the same printer perfectly.
Good luck, ill be watching, and hopefully youll go better than I did. This is not a one off issue like youll probably be told it is.
If you look at my name ill sure youll be able to see my previous discussions on this issue?
Thanks for posting this thread

I second rector, look for posts in my name as well...
My problem was with firmware 1.04 and earlier but since I upgraded my firmware to 1.08 skipping all other firmware's my problem has been fixed with no other network changes. just like magic.
I'm hoping the problem does not return with the new firmware... ???

Advanced lanscanner installed but it wont save or export the 2 or more pages of the expanded report. I have to kill it with task manager. I tried to take a screenshot but how do I upload that to the forum?
I cant find a way to attach them?
What I have found by trying to use advanced lanscanner on a networked xp machine (i am posting this on a win 7 machine) is that lanscanner lists 2 NAS-323 It lists one with the IP of 192.168.0.199 which is the correct static IP set on the NAS. it says in brackets , that is is windowsNT and is logged in.
The other entry for the NAS is 192.168.0.255 with the name of DNS-323 and it says its not logged in.
The net bios names are the same for both entries.
There is only one listing for the NAS on the win7 machine (IP ending in 199)

x.x.x.255 is the broadcast address, it's not associated with any specific device. I don't know why the LAN Scanner shows it there.
