Hello everyone,
Just upgraded from a WBR-1310 to a DIR-655, everything was fine for a few days but then I noticed that after awhile my internet connections would start to slow down. Basically what would happen is that there would be a 10-30s delay and then it would load websites. When I connect directly I have no problems (after several days) or same thing when I go back to the 1310. Plug in the DIR-655 and less then a day I'm hitting the same problem. This happens on PC's connected to wireles or wired.
V: A3 F: 1.11
Thank you

If you disable the QoS, does this behavior continue?
-
yep that's one of the first things that I did.

What is the model of the modem being used and who is the ISP?
-
HI,
I am experiencing similar speeds. I've had the Dir-655 installed for about 4 months and it's been working okay, but this last week it slowed down to where I couldn't even load most web pages. I replaced the Dir-655 with my old DI-624M router and my internet speeds resumed to what I always had with the DI-624M. I have firmware ver 1.11 in the DIR-655. I reset the DIR-655 to factory defaults and it's working again, but I don't think it's as fast as the DI-624M.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Doug

Again,
What is the model of the modem and who is the ISP?
Try factory defaults on the unit, see if the speed returns. Then rebuild the cfg manually. DO NOT load a CFG file.

The ISP is Razzi link.
The modem is a Navini
Thanks

Log in to the router, locate the status page. What is your WAN ip?

What happens if you lock the routers WAN port to 100Mbps. Also look at disabling the QoS and see if the behavior persists.

I went back to my DI-624 and the DIR-655 is sitting and waiting for better times. I got fed up with trying all sorts of turning on and off.

That is quite picular. In this thread, two (2) different DIR-655 (different locations) are showing that intially after reboot, their respective internal networks are seeing optimal internet performance, then that performce takes a decline. Which, in both instances, the routers are replaced by there predisessors (previous network routers); and extended usage of those routers prove that there is no problem at the ISP side. Please comment, if while replacing the DIR-655, the hardware seamed heated, as if the device seamed to be overheating. Can you both verify that proper ventalation is accessabl;e to the DIR-655, to ensure heat disapation is occuring properly.
Slow internet ...over time, may be unsolicited inbound internet traffic, sometime indicative of internal network infection(s)/worm! Look at the DIR-655 log; does it show excessive packet blocks. If possible, can you post excerpt of log file activities. When, your looking at the log page of the router WebUI, clear the log... wait about ten (10) seconds and refresh the log. If the page reports a high volume of log entries (## log entries); I would suggest running a virus scanner on your network PC's.

Try running a KIWI syslogger, output the log to a pc and monitor the slwodown. Also p-caps are helpful.
(disable DNS relay).

I am the one that reverted back to my DI-624. I didn't have heat problems the router was just warm. (Seems normal). The router was well ventilated it was in the same position as my DI-624. I don't want to go back to my DIR-655 because I am fed up with trying all sort of things. I am not an expert and some terms say nothing to me, I just want to work without thinking about the router all the time. As I said I'll wait for a new firmware, if it solves my problem than OK if not back to the good old DI-624. I don't want to be the quality checker for this router. I am disappointed about buying a router that seems to me was put on the market to early D-Link is the one that has to do the quality checks not their clients.

Hi prattjo,
I don't understand, since you went back to the DI-624 Router, why post here? You haven't post any information on the adapters being used with the DIR-655 Router. If you aren't using Gigabyte Adapters with the DIR-655 Router, then you need to change the Transmission Rate. I have mine set at MCS 11-52 (108) Mbit/s.
I haven't had one crash. I matched the Transmission Rate to the highest Transmission Rate of the other devices on the Network.
