My dgl-4300 died two night ago, i am thinking about getting a dgl-4500 or an asus rt-n16. ANy thoughts or suggestions? Thanks

I think its great, but its doesn't do simultaneous 2.4 and 5.8Ghz broadcasts, which I sort of thought it did without doing my research before buying...

I have had good experiences with my 2 4500s. Yes, stay away from v1.21 FW. It wasn't the best. If you do get one, try it out and see how it works. If it works great for you, I would leave it alone and not update it. Review the Gaming and Gamefuel sticky for recommended settings. Works well for most people. If you are on DSL and have a modem that has a built in router, have the ISP shut it off and bridge or put the modem in transparent mode for gaming. Cable modems don't have this problem. Hope you enjoy. Let us know what you get.

I will give you a pro/con
Pro:
Gamefuel Intellegent QoS
USB for printer/storage
External and upgradable/replacable antenna
2.4Ghz OR 5.8Ghz
Gigabyte WAN and LAN
Faster chip and more memory then the DIR series.(Opinion/fact)
Cool factor (OLED, shiny black, etc)
WISH (Wireless QoS)
Con:
Not compatible with any 3rd party firmware(OpenWRT,Tomato, etc)
Cant do 2.4Ghz AND 5.8Ghz
Expensive (Opinion)
Runs a bit hotter then most routers(Opinion)
Hit or miss Technical support (Opinion)
The technical support isn't meant as a insult at anyone, just have had a few less then helpful experiences with technical support, thus what brought me here. This forum is great, just wish the Moderators were a bit more active on it. Not a complaint though, I am in the industry, so I know what its like, but thought it should be mentioned if he was looking for a honest answer. Overall, I love my 4500. Not as much as my 4300, but still in the top 5 routers I have ever bought.
