Title: Wired Router to Wireless Router Connection?
Post by: jcbadcura on July 15, 2010, 06:46:10 PM
Networking Newb here, here is my situation:

I am trying to connect a 4-port wired dlink router to one of the wired ports on my wireless router.

My home theater setup on the other end of the house has networking capabilities, but all of it except ps3 must be connected with a wired connection.

I have to run a long network cable to get to the sources but when once connected to the 4 port router (my old wired router the di-704) the equipment says cable not connected.

Do I have to allow access through this router via 192.168......?

Is it even possible to hook up a router to a wireless router's wired connection???

Please advise!!

Thanks!

Jake

Have you switched off the dns server on the old router so ip address's are only issued from the wireless?

also make sure the old routers ip address (admin login page) is not conflicting with any ip address's from the wireless router.
