Sounds like you're only connecting at wireless G (54 Mps - 20Mps throughput)

Did you configure for 300 Mps (see sticky)?

Hey Duny,

Its sounds like you tested your speed with the computer Wired to the router, correct? If so, good. Wireless won't always give you the best representation of the speed of your internet connection.

Getting a speed of 20 Mbps for a 30 Mbps service doesn't sound very shocking. Your ISP advertises the highest possible speed, and even in your contract it will likely say that you won't always get the speed advertised. Try doing a speedtest to the closest possible server, and see if your result improves.

Also, consider the time at which you do the speed test. If you do it in the early morning when few people in your area are using the Net, you'll get a speed closer to the advertised speed then doing it in the evening when there is higher traffic.

Hope this helps. I can't think of any settings you can tweak on your DIR-655 to speed it up. Just sounds like your ISP isn't giving you the full speed that is advertised.
