I know D-Link recommends using the D-Link program, but I wanted to find out what peoples experiences are using Windows Zero Configuration. I have heard that it gives a stable connection.

Using WZC on 3 systems, didn't even bother doing the setup of the DLink Utility.

Hi,
With my DWA-652 (PCI Xtreme N adapter) the DLink utility wouldn't even install fully to where it would see my DIR-655, so I had no choice but to use the WZC service which I normally would have disabled completely.
Of course I had even less luck getting WPA2 to set up for my wireless adapters and my DIR-655...so who knows for sure.

Are you running XP?
If you are there is a hotfix from Microsoft to reapply the WPA2 files.(KB893357)

I did this on a system that could on connect WPA, after fix WPA2 worked.
I posted this fix here a while back and it has helped others with the same issue.

It helped me! I was going batty trying to figure out why my 2 XP laptops weren't connecting. Now they're both on the air w/ WPA2 (only) enabled on the router.

Can anyone comment whether WZC is better or worse than the software that comes with the adapter?
-
It should not make a difference in basic set-ups. In advanced set-up sometimes WZC does not have desired options or details.
In Vista you can ONLY use WZC.
