Title: Port Forward Settings Not Saving (Hardware: A3, Firmware: 1.21)
Post by: Midnight on July 30, 2010, 05:58:18 PM
Now I know this problem has come up before in previous threads, but in all the threads I've read the usual recommendation is to turn on Securespot. Unfortunately, my router is using the 1.21 firmware (2008/10/09) which doesn't have Securespot (and thus has nothing to turn on).

Has anyone here encountered the problem stated in the topic and is running the 1.21 (non-Securespot) firmware? Is my only solution to upgrade to the latest firmware? (I'd rather not if I can help it, my router has been working fine since I got it and I'd rather not mess with firmware updates unless I have absolutely have to).

If details on specific router settings are needed I will provide them.

Nevermind, I resolved the problem.

It looked like the 1.21 firmware my unit was using was some kind of beta, since the date for it didn't match the date for the 1.21 firmware on D-Link's site. So I decided upgrade it....only to find that I COULDN'T. For some reason my unit wasn't accepting the new firmware (it gave no indication that the update failed either, other than the version number not changing after rebooting). Fortunately I found this thread:

Which resolved the problem. I upgraded the unit to the 1.21 (2008/11/13) firmware, and now my Port Forward Settings are saving properly.
