I there!
I'm Portuguese so, excuse if i give errors on my writing.
In this week i buy three DIR-655:
1- DIR 655 A5 1.21EU
2- DIR 655 A5 1.31EU
3- DIR 655 A5 1.21EU
I tested the speed of LAN, my 2 desktop have Gigabyte LAN cards on board.
The 1st DIR 655 i have 850 mbps, good!
The 2nd and 3rd DIR 655 the max speed i get is 550 mbps.
Ths first and second i put back to the shop.
At the moment i only have the 3rd DIR 655 with 1.21EU firmware.
The 550mbps is bad in my opinion, i see tests of other routers and they have speeds between 700-900 mbps.
I only get 550 mbps....
There is any configuration that i have to do in the router? :/
Help me please.
Ps. What is better, 1.21 EU or 1.31EU?
Why when i try to update firmware of the routers that have 1.21EU firmware, the router don't find updates?
The second that i buy have 1.31EU :/

Anyone already tested the speed of the lan?
Sending files from one pc to another, both with Gigabit Cards...
-
I do that alot between two desktops and a laptop (wired gigabit).
I get a 1.0 Gbps connection (from Windows status) for all connections, but throughput, I'm assuming because of the ethernet protocol, is at max on my system, about 450 Mbps.
I can get a sustained 250-350 Mbps.
I watch it with BitMeter II (http://bitmeter-ii.en.softonic.com/).
I hope this helps.

Tks my friend!
I have a max. of 550mbps and i was expecting more :/
I have CAT5e cable, its the minimum for Gigabit Lan.
But anyone now if i install CAT6 cable i will get a little more speed?
-
I don' think so, I think it is an ethernet protocol thing.
-
Please note that cables are not all the same. Some "certified" Cat5e cable do "degrade" to slower speeds.
-
I agree. Not all cables are the same.
But I have Cat6 all the way on my network.
So upgrading the cables most likely will not make a difference.

Well... i buy CAT6a and the speed is the same, 550mbps Max!!!
I will buy another router to try, i will buy Asus RT N16.
