Title: Frequent network loss solved for me
Post by: mingano on August 07, 2010, 04:24:13 PM
Symptoms: intermittent and frequent loss of internet connectivity.  I could ping the wireless router but not the DSL modem.  Windows 7 Professional.

Problem found : an inappropriate persistent route that had been configured into the system by a misbehaving application (antivirus, vpn, that type of thing).

Solution: disable all interfaces, use route delete command to verify no persistent routes no longer in effect, reestablish connection.

No problems since.

route -f
reboot

Typically solves that issue pretty quickly. :)

New to computing?

You only need to type: "route -f" (without the quotation marks and, ofcourse, this remark)

After that you reboot your PC by exiting Windows, press the power button for 4 sec or take the electricity cable out of the wall socket  :o

You might be better off having a more knowledgable person perform the things for you....
