Title: Is 1.02 still the best?
Post by: BigC on August 08, 2010, 02:57:29 PM
I have had my D-Link 4500 for more then 2+ years now and im still on the 1.02 firmware ive kept it the same all this time because i herd it was the best. Is that still the case? my router does reset every now and then but its not to the point its a ultra hassle.

It's fairly stable but it does require resets every now and then.

Also a great cooling tip to those with a antec 900 or CM case with a top fan. If you place your router on top of that fan it keeps it really cool sense i know the 4500 has cooling issues.

1.0 Is pretty stable and even the newer ones are stable. But some users experience more issues with later firmware. Like my buddy furrynutz says if it is not broken don't fix it. So yea don't upgrade if it is working fine.

I've been very much satisfied with v1.22NA, don't do reboots for weeks, and even then usually rebooting just for the heck of it (if for some reason internet slows down, just to make sure it's ISP and not router, I do router restart)

As far as I remember in v1.02 I had problem with UPnP, it didn't work properly, but it was very stable.

As of cooling issues, no problem there either, yes, it's little warm, but nothing to be alarmed about, unless of course it's hot in the room itself (I keep room temperature no more then 25C)
