I have firmware 1.32NA and trying to upgrade to 1.34NA. I applied the firmware update, waited the 80 seconds until it redirected me back to the login screen. The home page still shows 1.32NA. The firmware did not take. I did it twice and even tried doing 1.33NA first but nothing works. I am still stuck with 1.32NA.

You will need to perform a hard reset before performing the upgrade to 1.34NA. Many others have reported the same requirement.

What is a hard reset? How do I do a hard reset?
-
Push the reset button on the back of the router and hold it in until the lights flash then release the button.
Wait until the router finishes rebooting then flash firmware.

I have a DIR-655 router and my current Firmware Version is 1.21
Current Firmware Date : 2008/10/09
When I run "check online now for latest firmware version is says that I am up to date. Do I have to perform a router reset and then check for the latest firmware ver again ? Please advise.
I did think that was strange about the two year old firmware? Thanks.

You should've posted it in my topic since I'm also experiencing that problem too!

it appears dlink disabled the new firmware available notification on there servers a while ago, i wana say they released a firmware and then quicklly removed it, ever since that time it has not told me about updates.
i guess they figured the less people mess with there routers the less they will have to replace under warranty when people brick them, but i think its decieving to leave that option if that is there intention.

Thx for the info. So I'll dig through there site for the the latest firmware. Sorry for not seeing your post earlier.
Later.

Actually, I think the "check online now for latest firmware version" reports you are up-to-date because just about every firmware from 1.2x through 1.34 has been "beta" and I think it only reports positive if it is a "release" or "final" (not beta status), but then again, this is all speculation on my behalf.

All firmware that is available from the main DLink website is to be considered "Final". I have the to check option turned right off, I am here at the forum everyday so I will find out about new stuff from here.

And: If it ain't broke, don't fix it (esp. when you know s**t about routers :P)
