I have my DCS-1130 webcam and now I am trying to setup the email notification. I use the smtp.gmail.com as the gateway but it fails in the test.
Is there anyone facing the same problem and how I can fix it. ? Thanks

I installed DCS-1100 on Aug 8....runs good except I have problem with email notification as well. I used my att.net email SMTP and tried both 25 and secure 465 but still could not work with TEST mail. I think that might do with my ISP (COX cable) which I installed the CAM.
I would need to check out with COX for SMTP and setup the email which comes with COX....
Any idea.

I just spent an hour with d-link customer support to get the answer. It wasn't clear from the installation instructions but here are the steps to get the email to work.
1) You must configure a primary and secondary DNS. Under SETUP => Network Setup, put in the primary and secondary DNS IP addresses. If you don't have one, use the generic 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3.
The s/w is trying to reconcile where to send the mail by resolving the IP address. Without the DNS gateway servers, the tests will fail since it can't resolve the smtp server <-> IP address.
2) in the SETUP => SNAPSHOT webpage, put in the name of your SMTP server and all your other required information. Port 25 is the usual outgoing mail port, but sometimes you need to use 587. If the "TEST" email doesn't work, trying looking up the ip address of your service provider's smtp server.
for example, the smtp.broadband.rogers.com server's ip address is 206.190.36.18. I was able to get my emails to be sent correctly using the IP address. However, once I got the DNS servers input correctly I was able to switch back to using the smtp.broadband.rogers.com name.
hope this helps.

FWIW I couldn't figure out how to configure the D-Link software to send a snapshot by Gmail either. My provider is Verizon; I got it running by sending the snapshot via my provider. For Verizon [I have DSL] the smtp is outgoing.verizon.net, not mail.verizon.net, and the port is the [default] 25. It didn't require any other configuration settings anywhere else in the other setup screens. Perhaps "outgoing..." is a clue for others on nationwide systems. Hope this helps.

I bought a DCS-930L on Tuesday and while unsuccessfully trying to get the email to work on Yahoo, I found my answer (for Comcast at least) in this link: http://www.defcon-5.com/support/index.CF?doc id=95
Comcast:
POP3: pop3.comcast.net Port 110
SMTP: SMTP.comcast.net Port 587
ESMTP should be enabled
SSL: NO
User name must NOT include @comcast.net
Put that info into the camera's Web page, and voila!
Hope it helps.
