What is the quickest method to dump both 323 drives onto 2 new drives in the 321? The drives are ext3 formatted. I also want the 321 Journal to be intact.
My understanding is ext2/3 Windows drivers do not update the Journal. Is there a way to refresh the Journal in the 321?
Are there any Linux on CD boots that support Journal?
The last option would be to copy 2X2TB of data from 323 to 321 via LAN with a PC ::)

I think your "last way" is going to be the way to actually get the data there and have the filesystem totally coherent.

Is the Journal reside on each drive or a single Journal in the NAS (in Volume_1 ?) for both drives?
If the former, then install fun-plug ...
1) Put Volume_2 (of 321) in 323.
2) cp Volume_1 to Volume_2
3) Put Volume_2 back in 321
4) cp Volume_2 to Volume_1. One drive is done. This must be faster than via LAN.
5) reformat Volume_2 in 321
6) copy via LAN Volume_2 of 323 to Volume_2 of 321.
I believe step 4 can be done with the scheduler and hence doesn't need fun-plug?

Hmm .. if you want to make a full backup, use the backup scheduler and push the files on the 321.
You could also make your files on the 323 accessible via FTP (do NOT forward the FTP server on the internet while you do this) and simply "download" them from your 321.
If the 321 also supports FunPlug, set up a Sync server on the 323 and the client on the 321.
