Title: DFL-210 SNMP configuration.
Post by: kris999 on August 22, 2010, 02:15:50 AM
Hi,

I'm trying to install MRTG statistics on W2K3 into my lan.

Manual said:

The advanced setting SNMP Before Rules in the RemoteAdmin section controls if the IP rule set
checks all accesses by SNMP clients. This is by default disabled and the recommendation is to
always enable this setting.
The effect of enabling this setting is to add an invisible Allow rule at the top of the IP rule set which
automatically permits accesses on port 161 from the network and on the interface specified for
2.5. SNMP Monitoring Chapter 2. Management and Maintenance
67
SNMP access. Port 161 is usually used for SNMP and NetDefendOS always expects SNMP traffic
on that port.

After this actions I can't telnet DFL via port 161 and I don't know why...

Also I make a configuration in the Remote Management for SNMP.

Still nothing.

Anyone knows a wright configuration?

Thanks in advance!

For MRTG you just need to make an SNMP remote management and set its communitu string to you application (MRTG). I use this app without any problems.

Ok. On Remote management i make SNMP like below:

General

Name:
Community:    public

Access Filter

Interface: lan
Network:  object from address book - IP server for MRTG on windows

I also enable SNMP Before Rules in Advanced settings.

Is this correct? I miss something?
After save conf. I can't telnet form MRTG windows server to DFL via port 161 so i can't configure MRTG on windows.

P.S. Firewall on windows are disable.

Try to check DFL's logs
I checked one of production systems - PRTG is normally working with DFL-800 thru port 161 and SNMP version v2c. And i also can't telnet DFL because SNMP uses UDP port.

I don't why but MRTG has a problem with connection to DFL.

After PRTG installation everything working ok. Thanks for help!
