Title: Unable to access files DNS-343 permissions
Post by: rkp_india on August 22, 2010, 07:41:43 PM
Okay, over the past two years have been using the DNS-343 for just storing video and audio files, etc. Since its purchase i have upgraded firmware and purchased a new home computer MAC OSX and at one point have probably copied files under mac OSX 10.5.8 10.6.3 and am NOW running 10.6.4. I can see all the files but CANT access about 1/2 of them. I tried an ftp program from a windows PC and can see the have different permissions but cant seen to change them. HELP. I am about the try telnet access thru the fun plug but this stuff is way over my head. I just want my files!!!!!!!!!! Is there any program i can run to access and get my files off this box!!. i have read other posts and the method of changing unix extension using a change in the smb.conf file is very over my head. I guess i could do it but someone needs to walk me thru step by step. HELP. Will paypal $$ to anyone who can help a NON linux /unix person thru the steps

10.6.4 should have solved the permissions issue already. Might be issue with ownership of the files. Were you logged on as the same user?
