Title: Reset to Factory Firmware - Not a settings reset, actually replacing the firmwar
Post by: hhipal on August 23, 2010, 07:39:22 PM
Is there any way to reset the firmware to what was put on it at the factory.  Not just reset the settings, actually replacing the firmware.

I had bad flash of the firmware and want to go back.

I do not know if there is a hard reset or some kind of utility.

I don't think there is. Your only option is to download a lower firmware version and load it to your router. Be aware of the firmware notes that say

"Note: This firmware does not allow downgrading. Please read the release notes before upgrading."

Thanks.  I had already downloaded an earlier version.  The question is, how do I push it out to the router?  I did an "emergency room" push, but it said the version is bad and could not load.

You can just upgrade the firmware as you normally would but the firmware that you are loading is a lower version.

It must be noted that D-Link has released a firmware level that will not permit the firmware "downgrade" below that level. Read the firmware notes!!!!
