Title: Bad speed
Post by: William77 on August 24, 2010, 01:48:07 AM
I have a DIR-615 connected to my 10mbps adsl on the first floor. On my second floor I have two computers connected with cables to the DAP-1522, operating in bridgemode.

Thru the DAP-1522 I only get about 3mbps. I was thinking about bad connection, and tried my old laptop where the DAP-1522 is located. When I connect the laptop thru the DIR-615 I get 9,3mbps in speed.

I also tried updating the firmware on DAP-1522, but it had no effect.

So where is the problem?

Thanks

You're getting 9,3mbps thru DIR-615? Is it 9 or 3 or 9.3?

If you have slow connection behind the DIR-615, then problem is on the router. If you are getting good speed behind DIR-615, then problem with the DAP-1522.

The connection behind the DIR-615 is fine. I get the right speed both when I`m connected thru wireless and cable. The problem is the speed when I connect to the DAP-1522.
Its about a third of what it should be.

Try setting the wireless security to WPA2-AES and see if it makes a difference.

It actually helped a bit. I now got about 6mbps, but its still a bit slower than the 10mbps I hoped to get.

I also see that the signal strenght on the DAP-1522 is about 60%.

Note that if you have 10mbps behind the modem, you are not expected to get 10mbps behind a router because of the router's and computer's firewalls. And, internet connection speed will be shared by all computers on your network that are connecting to the internet. To test, try shutting off other computers and check your speed in just one computer that has no internet security turned on.

Also, since you are wirelessly connected, wireless interference on the dap1522 could also degrade performance.
