Title: DIR-855 - need antennas x3 and power supply
Post by: dumpystig on August 27, 2010, 04:36:46 PM
Just got a "broken" DIR-855 off ebay, dirt cheap (£6.19), thought I would have a tinker, try fixing it. Condition as new but no power adaptor or antennas came with it. H/W ver:A2, F/W ver1.20WW. Anyways I've (so far) got it up and running so I'm now looking for anyone in the UK who can supply me with the original antennas x3 and the power adaptor, maybe someone has a totally bricked unit that's out of warranty. If anyone is interested in how I 'fixed' it I will post again here. And it was a really stupid fault, simple to put right. Obviously I can't test the wireless side yet, but all the readouts on the OLED menu say it's all ok, and I've been connected thro' ethernet for over 4 hours now.
Happy days (fingers x'd)    :)

what was "broken" about it? or was it just the fact that it was an incomplete unit (missing antenna and power suply) so listed as broken?

Hi,

there are still auctions on ebay selling this router without power supply and without antennae.

The power supply is ok, I have found 12V 2A Linksys (they are compatible).

Bigger problem is with antennae... I have read, that the original ones are dual 2.4/5GHz, but I could not find any.

Somebody solved this?

You can probably get replacement antennae from DLink themselves if you call them up or find them at online parts e-tailers like newegg.com or tigerdirect.com.

Very late reply, I know, but I got the antenna I needed. The fault I found was on the connector between the display and the main board: at least two of the pins within the socket were very loose and therefore not making permanent contact. I carefully removed all 10 pins from their housing (they are actually the female part, the male is on the main pcb connector), squashed them ever-so-slightly with needle-nosed pliers and reinserted them. And that was it - my 855 was (and still is) up and running.

Hi, I have bought these for $15 and they seem to work in dual too (I can see 802.11n and 802.11n in 5GHz in other room too):
